Five-minute meals are fast meals that you can prepare. While they might not all take five minutes from start to finish, (that’s how long it takes to eat a frozen pizza), these meals are very quick and easy.

(Here’s what I consider a 5-minute dinner. It’s all down to how fast you put it together. I don’t count a day of crockpot cooking as part of my meal-prep time. I don’t stand over the crockpot. When you’re busy, the food assembly is what counts.

So what’s it? There’s no catch. However there are some secrets that can help you make 5 minute meals that fit into your busy life.

Start by standing in your grocery stores bottled sauce and dressing aisle. These are easy, quick meals you can make! Choose your favorite flavours. Try out new flavors. Look for low-fat/non-fat varieties. You’ll reduce added fats and calories.

This 5 minute meal can also be prepared with cooked meat. You can buy precooked poultry, or you can save more by buying hamburger or chicken portions (I prefer skinless boneless chicken breasts). This will save you time in the cooking department.

Precooking makes it easy and quick to prepare 5 minute meals. Just grab a frozen packet of precooked meat and heat the sauce. You could also use a bag with frozen vegetables to add to your meal. However, it is possible that you will need more than one bottle depending on how large the food is. For healthy veggies, you might also consider a bag with premade salad.

Once you have settled on the tastes and fast meals that you love, it is time to start keeping a record of these meals in your home. Your job is always to have the ingredients you need for these meals in your pantry. It’s your job to make sure that every time you grab a favorite sauce, you note it on your grocery lists so you can get it replaced on your next shopping trip.
